Complaints and appeals
We welcome your complaints.  All complaints are treated very seriously and it is our aim to put things right if at all possible.  Customer complaints can also be vital in telling us where we can improve for our current and future customers.

Your first step should always be to contact the provider of the service that you are unhappy with, such as Motability Operations, RAC, RSA Motability or your dealership.

If you remain dissatisfied, you can complain directly to Motability's Complaints and Appeals Team.  Because this team is not part of a service provider organisation they can look at your complaint impartially.  Please refer to the leaflet 'We welcome your complaints' (PDF 622KB) for more information or to complain please use the Complaints form. To receive a hard copy of this leaflet, please telephone 01279 632268.

The Motability Complaints and Appeals Team can consider an appeal if you have:
  • had your agreement terminated by the Scheme;
  • been disallowed from taking out a further agreement; or
  • been refused entry to the Scheme in the first instance.

The circumstances of your case will be examined and the Team will advise you of its decision as quickly as possible.  You can lodge your appeal by using the Complaints and appeals form or writing to Motability at the address in the Contact us section.


Misuse of the Car Scheme

Misuse of the Motability Scheme is something we take very seriously.   We rely on the general public, customers, police, Department for Work and Pensions, and others to help us put a stop to it.  Every report of misuse we receive is carefully assessed and, if proven, acted upon.  Typical examples of misuse include:

  • Using the car for crime
  • Denying its use to the disabled person
  • Using the car as a taxi or delivery vehicle
  • Driving uninsured or whilst banned
  • Sub-leasing or selling the car
  • Allowing the car to become unroadworthy.

You can report misuse to us either anonymously or, preferably, by giving your name in complete confidence so we can discuss it with you further if necessary.
