Coming to the end of your lease

It's time for that 'new car' feeling

The choice available to you has never been wider, with more than 4,000 models to choose from, from all of the top manufacturers. Our dealer network has expanded to nearly 5,000 dealerships and we now have over 200 cars that you can drive away with no advance payment - with hundreds more at less than £500.

If you are coming to the end of your contract, here's what you need to know:

Three months before the end of your lease:

• Start to think about your new car- what model/ style/ size you would like - taking into account your lifestyle.
• Find a Dealer and visit as many dealerships as you can to choose your brand new car. 
• Consider adaptations if you need them. 
• Place your order. 
• When ordering, take your driving licence, proposed drivers' licences, certificate of entitlement and proof of address. 
• If you have a personalised number plate let your dealer know.

Two months to go: 

• We will contact you to book an MoT test on your current car.
• Your MoT takes place at the dealership (the dealer will keep the certificate). 
• Look out for your Personal Identification Number (PIN) in your acceptance letter. This enables you to sign all your handover paperwork electronically. Take this with you when you pick up your new car.

One month to go: 

• We will send you a new tax disc if you need one. 
• You don't need to remove adaptations, but if you want to, please arrange this with a Motability accredited installer. 
• Keep in touch with the dealer supplying your new car to keep track of the delivery date. 
• If there is a delay, don't worry. Your supplying dealer will arrange for you to stay in your current car until the new one is ready.

Changeover day: 

• Return your car to the dealer supplying your new car. 
• Hand over all your documents from your old car - and don't forget the spare keys, including any alloy wheel keys. 
• The dealer will take a brief condition description of the car. 
• Check that your nominated drivers are on your insurance cover note… including yourself. 
• For handover take your driving licence, photo identification, and any paperwork we have sent you, including your pin. 

Drive away in your new car and enjoy three more years of worry-free motoring!
